Atomki-szeminárium - Radiocarbon dating of art works and interesting artifacts

Az MTA Atommagkutató Intézetének előadótermében (Debrecen, Bem tér 18/c. 12. ép. III. em.) 2013. január 30-án, SZERDÁN 11:00-kor Tim JULL (University of Arizona and Atomki) Radiocarbon dating of art works and interesting artifacts címmel előadást tart. Az előadás előtt 10:30-tól tea, vendégeket szívesen látunk. Máté Zoltán Kivonat: The development of accelerator mass spectrometry greatly expanded the possibilities for dating of works of art and valuable artifacts. Since only a very small sample is needed, radiocarbon dating is now routinely applied to dating of valuable art works and other artifacts. I will discuss some examples, some well-known and some not so well-known. Dating of these types of samples also requires that the scientists be able to communicate the results of their investigations in a form understandable to non-scientists. Latest developments and results in this field in ATOMKI AMS C-14 Lab will also be shown.
