Rácz István (Wigner RMI) - "The degrees of freedom in general relativity" címmel.
The determination of the true degrees of freedom is of crucial importance in the proper description of classical and quantum aspects of various dynamical systems in physics. In this talk Einsteinian spaces with Lorentzian or Euclidean signature will be considered. The base manifold is assumed to be foliated by a two-parameter family of codimension-two surfaces. After exploring the interrelations of various projections of Einstein's equations a new method of solving the constraints will be presented. It will be shown that the proposed new method does also sort out a convenient embodiment of the gravitational degrees of freedom.
