The workshop is part of the CMRC Condensed Matter Research Seminars series and is part of the activities in work package 5.

Venue

Hotel Sunlight is located on the Sváb Hill, in a pleasant green area of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Please be prepared for an early December rimy, murky weather in Budapest.

How to get to Hotel Sunlight (H-1121 Budapest, Eötvös út 41)?

·         By car from Motorway M1 or M7

·         By shuttle service from Budapest Ferihegy Airport

·         By public transport

By car from Motorways M1 and M7 to Hotel Sunlight:

Hotel Sunlight is on the way to and about in 4 km distance from the common campus of several physics research institutes which constitute KFKI, hosting also CMRC, the Condensed Matter Research Center.
Therefore we borrow the instructions from the KFKI web-site on how-to-get-there by car. Please follow the map provided there (up to location No. 3) then follow the instructions further until “the road divides to circumvent a water tower in the middle of the road”. This is your target. Hotel Sunlight is on the right-hand side of the water tower. You only have to walk back about 60 meters.

By shuttle service from Budapest Ferihegy Airport to Hotel Sunlight:

Ferihegy airport has two terminals, Terminal 2a and Terminal 2b [F2 on the map].  Malév flights (Malév is the Hungarian airline company) use terminal 2a, all other flights use terminal 2b.

In your own interests it is suggested that you avoid taking a taxi.  A shuttle bus service called “Airport Minibus” (phone: 06-80/296 855, 296-8555 fax: 296-8993) operates between Budapest Ferihegy airport and the city. They pick up passengers and take to/from their destination from/to the airport. The flat fare is (1800HUF=7.2 Euro single or 3300HUF=13.2 Euro return - as of 04/12/2001) to/from anywhere inside the city bounds. On arrival simply visit the Airport Minibus Desk and state your destination (Hotel Sunlight, H-1121 Budapest, Eötvös út 41.  Phone: (361) 395-6584). Before departure from Budapest, it is best to call them 24 hours in advance of your flight to ensure they are able to collect you.

By public transport from Budapest city:

To reach Hotel Sunlight by public transport, take bus No. 21 at Moszkva tér, which is a central location on the Buda side of Budapest accessible by metro and a number of  bus and tram lines.  Travel time is about 15 minutes. Get off the bus on the top of the hill, immediately after it passes the water tower on your left in the middle of the road.

General

The workshop language is English. The program of the workshop, the abstracts of lectures and posters are listed below.

An overhead projector and a video projector (beamer) connected to a SuSe Linux 7.2 (with K-Office and Star Office)/Win98 (with Microsoft Office 2000) double boot laptop computer will be at your disposal. Should you want to use the video projector, please specify your computer environmentand application as well as the required screen resolution by e-mail, in order that your needs can be handled in advance.

The posters will be displayed during the working days of the workshop in order to help discussion at any available time. The poster boards are of 1.2 m height and 0.9 m width. You are encouraged to bring along further recent posters of yours on relevant subject even if they are not yet in the program.
