I N T R O D U C T I O N
The aim of ICAME'97 is to discuss current trends and future directions of the Mössbauer effect. After more than three decades of continuous meetings, for the first time this Conference will be held in South America, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In keeping with previous Conferences, there will be a wide coverage of developments in the Mössbauer research. This meeting will provide also the opportunity to discuss extensively the exciting development and achievements of Mössbauer spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation.
A new format was approved by the Program Committee for ICAME'97:
The scientific program will be enhanced by social
events. Rio de Janeiro's renowned natural beauty will allow excellent
opportunities for planned social programs throughout the week.
