Matters Arising Professor Berry reported that the following representatives to IBAME had been elected: Iceland Professor O Helgason Oman Professor A Awadh Yousef 6. ICAME97 Dr E Baggio-Saitovich reported on meetings of the Programme Committee and Organising Committee. She reported on organisational matters and that 240 people had registered. Professor Gutlich thanked Dr Baggio-Saitovich for all her work in organising the conference. 7. Dates of ICAME Professor G Long had raised by correspondence the problem of ICAME being scheduled for September. After discussion it was agreed that the most financially favourable time to the local organisers was the important consideration. 8. ICAME 01 Dr D Dickson made a proposal that ICAME 01 should be held in the UK. It was agreed that IBAME should meet on Tuesday 16th September 1997. ICAME 99 A report on plans for ICAME99 in Garmisch, Germany, was presented by Professor F Parak and Professor A Trautwein Matters concerning parallel sessions, letters of invitation to participants, Conference Fees, Conference Proceedings were discussed 4. Future ICAME It was agreed that Organisers of future ICAME should discuss their plans with the IBAME Executive and, via a closed electronic mailing, with members of IBAME. The ICAME registration fees (including those for students) should be approved by the IBAME Executive Committee. It was agreed that members of IBAME should form the International Advisory Board of future ICAME. It was agreed that $1 per participant be contributed from each ICAME to IBAME. 5. ICAME 01 Professor Yousif made a proposal that ICAME 01 should be held in Oman. After a vote it was agreed that ICAME 01 should be held in the UK. 6. ICAME 03 It was agreed that a decision should be made at ICAME 99. Oman and all other countries were encouraged to make a proposal. 7.Proceedings of ICAME It was agreed that local organisers should advise IBAME of any problems relating to the publication of the Proceedings of ICAME. 8. Nomenclature and Conventions for Reporting Mossbauer Data It was agreed that, with two further amendments, the document should be sent to IUPAC. 9. Any Other Business (i) Professor Berry reported that Dr H Rechenberg had been elected to represent Brazil.
