DataFurnace uses the "simulated annealing algorithm" to fit spectra without intervention by the user. Moderate roughness can also be parameterised and fitted according to the schema of Barradas et al: NIM B94 (1994) 266-270 (see Barradas NIM B190, 2002, 247-251, for a reworking of these data with DataFurnace). A very new feature is the ability to specify the form of the depth profile for one element, which DataFurnace will fit the parameters of. We will be attending the MRS 2003 Fall meeting in Boston (December 2-4): exhibition stall 1208. We welcome users or potential users to bring their own data which we can fit on the spot for you. We previously announced DataFurnace v2.1 on 8 May 1998 (ION vol98 no.4). The new version has a versatile and user friendly Windows interface and very many more technical facilities. A comprehensive review of DataFurnace can be found in Jeynes et al: J.Phys.D 36 (2003) R97-R126. Demonstration code and more details can be found on www.ee.surrrey.ac.uk/ibc/ndf ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Nov 2003 15:53:42 +0000 From: Chris Jeynes Subject: Chris Jeynes : MTAA-11: Surrey, England 10-15 June 2004 The 11th International Conference on Modern Trends in Activation Analysis will be held at the University of Surrey 20-25 June 2004. Contributed papers are invited. Please note that the deadline for Abstracts is 1 December 2003. ION readers should note that there is also an invitation to report work on analysis and tomography with ion beams.
