Following the relocation of the Nuclear Microscopy activities from Oxford to Surrey, the Pelletron accelerator (and some related components) used on the Oxford Scanning Proton Microprobe is no longer required and will be disposed of. Bids are invited from groups wishing to acquire this accelerator. The accelerator will be offered free of charge, but the recipient will be expected to cover all costs of dismantling and transporting the machine and removing it from its basement location (including costs incurred prior to the bid). The machine was running up to May 2002, but no guarantee will be given as to its current state. For further technical details of this machine please contact Geoff Grime (g.grime@surrey.ac.uk). To bid for the machine or to discuss the administrative details of this offer please contact Dr Rosie Plummer, Administrator of the University of Oxford Department of Materials, (Rosie.Plummer@materials.oxford.ac.uk). Description of the offer: NEC 5SDH-2 1.7 MV Pelletron accelerator system comprising: - - - Dual chain Pelletron accelerator serial number 006 (year of manufacture 1987) with gas stripper (no terminal pump), generating voltmeter and corona probe (no CPO plates) - - - TPS terminal potential stabiliser controller (slit feedback and GV control), Accelerator charging controller, Interlock and stripper controller - - - General Ionex off-axis duoplasmatron ion source (year of manufacture approx. 1965) with home built injection system and power supplies - - - SF6 gas handling system and storage tanks - - - 90 degree double focusing analysing magnet (r = 0.5 m) and power supply (Danfysik) (Max. rigidity 8 MeV.amu/q2) - - - Control console ------------------------------ End of I O N V2003 #5 ********************* *-----------------------------------------------------------------------* | I O N - part of the IBIS, the Ion Beam Information System | *-----------------------------------------------------------------------* | Editors: | | E.
