Thanks to the author, Prof. James Ziegler the reason and a solution has been found for this problem. Error description: After clicking the "TRIM CALCULATION" tab in the introductory window the next screen/window freezes without displaying any text-boxes. The program can only be killed by the task manager. The same error was reported after my question in ION from some other colleagues using non-English Windows versions or using some national settings to English Windows. Other using English version could not reproduce the error. Reason: I used Win2000 English with Hungarian keyboard, Central European font, and as "Your Location": Hungary. In this case Windows2000 uses 16 bit ASCII code instead of 8 bit, and it causes VisualBasic to be confused by displaying some characters/strings. Solution: I reset everything to pure English. -> SRIM2000 was working properly. Even if I changed back to the alternate Hungarian keyboard and central European character set but "Your location" remained United States, SRIM2000 was still working properly. I have also got from James Ziegler the latest 2000.40 version which contains patch for this problem for some national versions such as Russian, Japanese, Chinese, (probably not for Hungarian).
