A scientist with research experience based on an accelerator or mass-spectrometers is being sought to augment the Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) group led by Dr Keith Fifield. The AMS research covers a wide spectrum of isotopes and applications, and is based on the 14 UD tandem accelerator operated by the Department. Research is carried out in collaboration with scientists in the fields of hydrology, landscape evolution, paleoclimate, environmental tracing and biomedicine. There is also a strong tradition of development of AMS techniques. The AMS facilities are excellent. The successful applicant will participate in all facets of the AMS program, and will assume responsibility for some aspects of the day-to-day operation. A strong interest in one or more of the above fields would be an advantage. There would be ample opportunity for the successful applicant to develop his or her own research interests. A PhD or equivalent in experimental science is essential. Salary: Postdoctoral Fellow (Level A) $38,545 - $46,514 pa.* Research Fellow (Level B) $48,858 - $57,645 pa. *The commencement salary for appointees holding a PhD will be no less than $43,467 pa.
