From now on, please use the new e-mail address for your queries ion-request@sunserv.kfki.hu and for your contributions to the journal ion@sunserv.kfki.hu In the next issue you will find detailed information on ION-LIST. The present subscribers of ION hopefully will not experience great changes, the distribution list has been maintained. Please observe the changes to the discussion journal ION which were either necessary or inevitable when migrating to the standard Majordomo list server under UNIX. The different services which were integrated in the earlier INFOSERV are now separate. The major change for contributors is that - u n l i k e before - ION is a digest format, u n m o d e r a t e d list, i.e. contributions once submitted by e-mail from any e-mail address to the ion@sunserv.kfki.hu address WILL be distributed without human intervention once every day (at 0:30 CET). Please omit mail attachments and coded (uuencode, etc.) mail body, which are presently not supported. Should you wish to distribute binary files, the use of anonymous ftp upload facility and a text mail reminder is recommended. Earlier and new IBIS services (see below) are partly available for "e-mail only" users and fully and interactively available for those having full access to the Internet (e-mail, ftp, Web-browsers). IBIS - (short for Ion Beam Information System) is a project of the KFKI Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics and KFKI Research Institute for Materials Science Budapest, Hungary. IBIS now includes the following services: ---------------------------------------- ION-LIST - A List and service primarily for distribution of ION (more on ION-LIST in the next issue) ION - News and views - a discussion journal for the Ion Beam Community IBIS-FTP - an anonymous FTP site at ftp.kfki.hu /pub/local/ibis for downloading and an option to upload to the /incoming directory (erased in every 10 days). In this latter case, please use ZIP files, and write the name of the file in an E-mail to one of the editors. IBIS-WWW - integrating all the above and more at URL: http://www.kfki.hu/~ionhp/ We hope you will join our electronic services. Please distribute this and forthcoming information on IBIS amongst your colleagues. Suggestions, comments, and contributions are highly welcome. Last revised: 22 April, 1997.
