======================================================================= I O N ======================================================================= DISCUSSION JOURNAL OF THE ION BEAM COMMUNITY ======================================================================= No. 1 7. December 1993. ======================================================================= Authors bear full reponsibility for their contributions ======================================================================= CONTENT - Editorial - NEW BOOK ON SPUTTERING ======================================================================= Dear Readers, Welcome to the first issue of ION. Unfortunately we had difficulties with starting the system, which caused delays in some replies. Now this problem is solved, so you shold really get a reply in two hours. New subscribers automatically receive the last issue of ION. Before this issue, the help file went out instead, we are sorry if you received two copies. We started off with empty data bases, this is why the very first requests could not be honoured. Now at least we have submitted our own personal data, but of course it is first of all YOU, THE READERS, who can supply information. Not only personal data, but program descriptions, conference announcements, and anything you think useful is warmly welcome, just like your contibutions to ION. This issue (and perhaps the next one or two) goes out not only to subscribers, but to all addresses on our list. After this intoductory period, however, you will only receive ION if you subscribe. Do not hesitate, act now! So here we go, happy IONing! The Editors ======================================================================= Received from PSI@DOU.DK on 1-DEC-1993 16:12 NEW BOOK ON SPUTTERING New book to be published 13 December 1993 FUNDAMENTAL PROCESSES IN SPUTTERING OF ATOMS AND MOLECULES (SPUT92) Symposium on the Occasion of the 250th Anniversary of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters Copenhagen, 30 August - 4 September, 1992 INVITED REVIEWS Edited by Peter Sigmund Matematisk-fysiske Meddelelser 43 Det Kongelige Danske Videnskabernes Selskab (The Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters) Commissioner: Munksgaard Copenhagen 1993 The contributions to this volume are based on invited review lectures presented at a symposium on fundamental processes in sputtering SPUT92), attended by 82 active researchers in the field. Eight contributions cover recoil processes, or `collisional sputtering', and six contributions cover electronic processes, or `electronic sputtering'. The last two contributions cover two of six application areas presented at SPUT92, and an introductory chapter was added by the editor. The book emphasizes developments over the past decade and offers comprehensive reviews on most active research areas in the field of sputtering by particle bombardment, with the emphasis on fundamental physical and chemical processes.
