Health Physics Section of the Roland Eötvös Physical Society, Hungary


 

50 YEARS OF THE HEALTH PHYSICS SECTION OF THE ROLAND EÖTVÖS PHYSICAL SOCIETY

 

The Health Physics Section of the Roland Eötvös Physical Society, Hungary was founded in March of the year of 1962. The number of members in the time of foundation was as much as 85, mainly specialists in radiation protection. The main goal of the Section was and still is: to provide a forum for people working in radiation protection in Hungary in order to assure safe application of ionizing radiation and atomic energy.

 

Our Section was one of the Societies founded the IRPA (International Radiation Protection Association). The founding IRPA Congress was held in Rome (September 1966) with participation of 15 societies representing 20 countries. Professor L. Bozóky, the president of the Hungarian Health Physics Section became one of the six members of the first IRPA Executive Council.
