Seventh Hungarian Relativity Workshop ------------------------------------- 10-15 August, 2003 Sárospatak, Hungary Second Announcement General Information ------------------- The Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics (RMKI) and the Center for Workshops in Theoretical Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences organize a workshop on general relativity. The Workshop will be held 10-15 August, 2003 in Sárospatak (Tokaj region) Hungary. In this circular we intend to provide some additional information for the potential participants on the workshop to help their decision on final registration. Scientific Program ------------------ As in case of previous Hungarian Relativity Workshops this meeting will be an open meeting. Interested researchers and students in all areas of gravitational physics are invited to participate. However, to make the theme of the workshop to be coherent the organizers intend to provide higher preferences to specific problems related to the following four areas 1) Sources of gravitational radiation (analytic and perturbative approaches) 2) Black hole physics (general theory, black holes with exotic matter fields, e.g. Einstein-Yang-Mills(-Higgs) systems) 3) Cauchy problem in general relativity 4) Brane Worlds (branes in cosmological and black hole context) There will be some review talks by invited speakers on the current state the following research fields: Brandon Carter "Brane-worlds" (to be confirmed) Jörg Frauendiener "Recent achievements in numerical approaches" Robert Geroch "On the Cauchy problem in general relativity" Yasufumi Kojima "Perturbative approach to relativistic stars" Amos Ori "Inner structure of black holes" Norbert Straumann "On the cosmological constant problem" The preliminary list of the talks can be found at the homepage http://www.kfki.hu/~rw2003 of our workshop. Registration ------------ You will find a registration form at the end of this circular and at the web page: http://www.kfki.hu/~rw2003/reg.html If you intend to participate, you are requested to fill in and return it to the organizers before 31 May, directly by using the web page or by e-mail (rw2003@sunserv.kfki.hu). Finances -------- The registration fee of the workshop is EUR 475 (~115.000 HUF) in single room accommodation EUR 425 (~102.000 HUF) in double room accommodation EUR 375 (~80.000 HUF) for accompanying family members This fee will cover the accommodation and full board (at Hotel Bodrog, Sárospatak) for 5 days including 5 nights, coffee and refreshments, two excursions, the conference dinner and the conference proceedings. In case of bank transfer payment the registration fee should be sent to the bank account of Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear account number: 10032000-01731134 bank: Magyar Állami Kincstár (MÁK), Budapest ["Treasury of the Hungarian State"] SWIFT Code: MANEHUHB On site payment is accepted in Hungarian forints (the present exchange rate is approximately 240 HUF = 1 EUR). Major credit cards (VISA, EC-MC, etc.) can be used to get Hungarian forints from ATM's all over the country, including Sárospatak. The organizing committee has a limited amount of money for support. Participants wishing to get support for their local expenses should indicate it in the registration form in the "Comments" section. Miscellaneous information ------------------------- The scientific sessions will start on Monday, 11 August in the morning and will end on Friday, 15 August at noon. There will be invited talks associated with each of the preferred topics of workshop. The time allocated to all the other talks will range from 30 minutes to 40 minutes depending on the number of the proposed talks. The deadline for the submission of the abstract of the presented talks is 30 June. Details related to the planed proceedings volume will be specified later for contributors. The hotel reservation is valid from Sunday afternoon (10 August). The planned social events are: a welcome party on Sunday, 10 August, in the evening; a conference dinner in the Rakoczi Castle on Thursday, 14 August; two excursions, one to Hollóháza and Füzér on Tuesday and another one to Tokaj on Wednesday afternoon. Detailed travel information on the possibilities to reach Sárospatak will be provided in a 3rd circular to all the registered participants. The confirmed sponsors of the conference are: The Tomalla Foundation, The Hungarian Academy of Sciences, The Center for Workshops in Theoretical Physics We hope you will be able to attend the workshop and contribute to its success.
