			    FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT

ORGANIZATION
- ------------
The Sixth Edition of the Latin American Conference on Applications of
the Mossbauer Effect, LACAME'98, will be held in Cartagena de Indias,
Colombia.
Researchers from different countries will be hosted in an international
hotel with conference facilities.
Inexpensive hotels around this area are also available to participants.


SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
- ------------------
The aim of the Conference is to provide participants with significant
and up-to-date Mossbauer Spectroscopy results from the Latin
American groups.
This event will include the participation of specially invited lecturers as
well as submitted contributions. The most of the contributed papers will
be presented in poster sessions.
Organizers will try to stimulate young scientists from Latin  American
countries to participate.

REGISTRATION
- ------------
The registration fee for LACAME'98 will be US$400 for scientific
participants if paid by June 1st. 1998. The fee after this date will
be US$500.
The fee for students and accompanying persons will be
US$150 before June 1st. 1998 and US$200 after this
date.
The registration fee covers attendance to all sessions of the
conference and some programed social events, the book of
abstracts, and refreshments during conference breaks.
For scientific participants it covers also the conference
proceedings.
