Workshop on Electric Fields, Turbulence and Self-Organisation in Magnetised Plasmas

28-29 June 2010, Clontarf Castle, Dublin

The EFTSOMP workshop series is organised annually as a satellite meeting of the EPS Conference on Controlled Fusion and Plasma Physics by the Hungarian EURATOM Association. In 2010 the workshop follows the 37th EPS Conference (EPS2010) in Dublin, Ireland.

Scope:
- Theory of turbulent transport (self-organisation, structure formation)
- Turbulence simulation
- Self-regulation of turbulent transport and improved confinement regimes
- Physics of ELMs and blob transport in the SOL
- Turbulence measurements and comparison with theory/simulation
- Diagnostic techniques for electric fields and fluctuations

Presentations:

Thematic sections are envisaged consisting of invited talks (30+10 minutes) and oral contributions (15+10 minutes). A summary of the workshop is planned to be published in an IoP journal, whereas the presentations will be sent to all participants on CD.

Location:

For the venue of the event the historical Clontarf Castle (4* deluxe hotel) has been envisaged. Dating back to the 12th century, the castle and boutique hotel is a unique combination of a modern contemporary built around a 800-year-old ancient form. Located just about 10 minutes from the heart of Dublin City Center and the EPS conference site, the Clontarf Castle hotel is in the tranquil coastal suburbs of Dublin, surrounded by green parks along the Irish Sea.

Accommodation:

Rooms can be booked at the workshop venue, the Clontarf Castle (4* deluxe boutique hotel). Delegate rate is 89 euro/day for single/double rooms. If you wish to stay at a different Dublin city hotel, the Hotelscombined website kindly offered us their Conference Support program (10% discount from the lowest internet price). Please let us know if you need any help in organizing your journey or accommodation.

Social programme:

Becoming a tradition, the evening before the workshop (Sunday 8pm) an informal get-together will be organised at an Irish pub to meet each other. The official - but still informal - dinner will be held at the end of the first workshop day (Monday 8pm) at a Dublin restaurant to strengthen current and encourage future collaborations.

Registration:

Participants are invited to register by sending an E-mail to eftsomp2010 (at) rmki.kfki.hu . Please include your name, affiliation, institute's address and a one-page abstract for contributed talks.

Registration deadline: 2 April, 2010

Fees: 170 euro. The registration fee includes participation in the workshop, shuttle service from the EPS site to Clontarf Castle, two lunches, a dinner invitation and CD with the presentations. Invoice and information on the payment will be sent to each participant after acceptance of abstracts.

Contact information:

For information and queries, please contact Eva Belonohy (eva.belonohy (at) ipp.mpg.de), scientific secretary of the workshop.
