Poggio a Caiano, Prato

The Villa Medici at Poggio a Caiano is Sangallo's masterpiece. It was strongly influenced by Lorenzo Medici's amateur enthusiasm for Alberti and Vitruvius. The first Renaissance villa to incorporate a pedimented portico and symmetrical planning around a large central hall, it foreshadows Palladian types.
