On the right side of the painting Eleonora de' Medici, the wife of Vincenzo I, also very sumptuously dressed, is shown, kneeling next to her mother-in-law, Eleonora of Austria, the first protector of the Jesuit order in Mantuan territory. In the original composition, Vincenzo I and Eleonora's two daughters were behind her.
