As an independent sculptor, Guglielmo worked on several figures for the Cybo monument, a commission begun in 1533. Guglielmo's contributions to this monument are the figures of Giuliano Cybo (rediscovered in 1955) and of Abraham. Abraham is Guglielmo's first masterpiece. In this figure, which is located on the left projecting socle of the monument, the heavy drapery, flowing beard and musculature show detailed attention to texture and volume. Abraham's sharp and forceful contrapposto movement creates a tension absent in the other figures on the monument.
