Choir stalls

1532-36
Wood
King's College Chapel, Cambridge

The stalls of King's College Chapel are the most exquisite pieces of Italian decoration surviving in England. Based on the analysis of stylistic and iconographic elements, the workmanship of French or Flemish artists was proposed who were following the precepts of Italians (mainly Rosso Fiorentino) working in Fontainebleau for Francis I.
