Self Portrait of the Artist with His Wife

1496
Oil on panel, 47 x 31 cm
Koninklijk Museum voor Schone Kunsten, Antwerp

This panel is one of the earliest examples of a double portrait within a single frame in Netherlandish art, and it is also one of the first pictorial representations of an artist and, moreover, one of the oldest surviving self-portraits.

The painting is in its original frame.
