Collegio Elvetico, Milan

The palace was erected at the beginning of the seventeenth century by the wish of Cardinal Federico Borromeo as the seat of the Elvetico College, for the formation of the Swiss clergy. The construction began in 1608 by Fabio Mangone. He built the large courtyard with its long rows of Doric and Ionic columns in two tiers under straight entablatures.

The photo shows the first courtyard.
