The monument was executed by the the Lombardo brothers, Antonio and Tullio. The bishop had it built during his lifetime, his heirs added only the date (1524). The inscription is a brief meditation: the bishop succeeded not only in conquering his enemies, but also in conquering himself, which is more difficult!
