Study of battles on horseback and on foot

Leonardo tried out mixed battle groups in connection with the Battle of Anghiari. At the top it is mainly foot soldiers who are fighting, while at the bottom a mixture of riders and foot soldiers is depicted whose furious battle has raised a cloud of dust.
