Beerstraten drew and painted a number of views in Amsterdam and in nearby villages. They are usually winter landscapes with ice skaters and other figures in the foreground. The view of Sloten exists in two versions, the other, probably the earlier one, is in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
