AIMS AND SCOPE

EPSL Online is the electronic version of the print journal Earth and
Planetary Science Letters and will be updated on a monthly basis,
simultaneously with the publication of the hard copy of the journal.

Earth and Planetary Science Letters and thus EPSL Online is devoted to
fundamental research in the solid and non-solid earth sciences, focusing
on topics at the forefront of the earth sciences. The articles published
reflect the great impact made on research in the geosciences by the use of
successful research methods from other disciplines such as chemistry,
physics and mathematics.

The journal covers research into all aspects of plate tectonics,
ocean-floor spreading and continental drift, as well as basic studies of
the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the Earth's crust and
mantle, the atmosphere and the hydrosphere. The journal also covers
planetary and cosmic studies.

Articles published are indexed in: Bulletin Signal tique, Chemical
Abstracts, Current Contents, Geo Abstracts and GEOBASE, INSPEC,
Mineralogical Abstracts, PASCAL/CNRS, Phys./Physics Brief and AGI's
Bibliography and Index of Geology.

An Express Letter Section is included for short, topical papers containing
novel ideas of interest to a broad spectrum of earth scientists. The
maximum permissible length is 5 journal pages, and the total time involved
