Dear Collegue,
we would like to draw your attention to the following:

________________________________________________________________________

1) The Physics Department of the University of Trento is
going to offer a two year (1+1) postdoctoral position for research in
"Electromagnetic Interactions with Light Nuclei" starting during
the year 2000.

The grant will carry a yearly tax-free remuneration of 35 million It. Lire
for non-Italian nationals.
Applicants must not be greater than 40 years old.
As soon as the formalities will be completed a formal call will be found
on the web at http://www-phys.science.unitn.it/

We foresee a deadline for applications by 15th of March 2000.

2) As you maybe know admission procedures to Italian Ph.D. programs
have been so far very complicated. For foreign students
they were almost hopeless.
To alleviate this situation, starting this academic year, the University
of Trento has decided to considerably simplify the procedures.
There are 9 positions opened at the Physics Department. Thanks
to ECT* and INFN support, at least two of them
are reserved to Ph.D. students in nuclear and subnuclear
physics (the ECT fellowship is restricted to theoretical nuclear physics).

The grant will carry a yearly tax-free remuneration of 20.450.000 It. Lire
There will be a certain number of University apartments reserved to
foreign Ph.D. students without additional costs than those for utilities.

The official call will be published on the Italian
"Gazzetta Ufficiale" and the application must arrive within 30 days from
publication.
Anyway information (in Italian) about application procedures can be already
found on the web at http://alpha.science.unitn.it/~doria/wwwdott/dott.html.
The english version will appear soon.
A probable deadline is between the 17th and the 21st of January (very
tight!!!).

to possible candidates.

It is advisable that the students interested in the Ph.D. program write
