[F2 on the map]. The Malév flights (Malév is the Hungarian airline company) use
terminal 2a and the flights of other companies use terminal 2b .
From the airport you have the opportunity to take fixed priced Airport transfers. Either you choose the Airport Minibus service or take a private Budapest transfer.
Both services take you to your destination for a fixed charge.
You are also able to rent a car in Budapest.
There are several car rental companies at the air terminals.
Your itinerary from the airport to
the KFKI campus by car is as follows:
The airport parking area is next to the road which leads to the city centre.
When you leave the airport region, you have to turn right.
On the road to the city centre, immediately take the LEFTMOST lane. This
leads to a speedway. [on the map: Ferihegyi repülôtérre vezetô út]. Do not
miss the speedway!
The speedway leads you to Üllôi út, a long, straight road to the centre.
[The road junction is marked No 24 on the map]. After driving about 4 km
you cross József körút, a broad boulevard. [The road
crossing is marked No 12 on the map].
At the end of Üllôi út, turn right and
immediately left, and you will arrive at
Calvin tér. [No 14 on the map]. Opposite you on both corners is the
"Korona" hotel. The two parts of the hotel are connected by an enclosed
bridge above the road.
Go straight across the road junction and under the "bridge" to Kecskeméti utca.
Kecskeméti utca leads you into an underpass. [The underpass is marked
No 17 on the map]. Keep to the left before entering the underpass and inside
the underpass,
bear left; this will bring you on to Erzsébet híd (Elizabeth bridge)
over the Danube.
On the bridge take the LEFTMOST lane. At the end of the bridge all
lanes turn right, yours - within 50 meters - turns left. [No 18 on the map].
Follow the uphill. This street is Hegyalja út. Now
take the RIGHTMOST lane. (BEWARE! The leftmost lane
continues on a flyover. Avoid the flyover! You can't turn back for
some 10 kilometers!!!!) Follow the road downhill to the
road junction (BAH) traffic lights [This road junction is named BAH - rhymes
with Bach, the composer. No 19 on the map], and
cross straight over the junction, and stay in the same lane. The Novotel
hotel is on your right. Take the next exit right.
Continue straight after the turn and follow this road crossing over a set of
tr
lights. Keep in the right hand lane for about 300 meters. On your left is a
square, Apor Vilmos tér. Then take the
first right turn, this is Stromfeld Aurél út. Keep straight on till the end
of this street.
At the end turn left, the road starts to go uphill. After about 100 meters
you reach some traffic lights. [Orbán tér, No 4 on the map]. Select the
rightmost road
which goes uphill, you should now be in Istenhegyi út.
Follow the main road uphill. Soon you will see 3 high-rise buildings on
your
left. Continue following the road as it curves uphill. The distance from
Orbán tér (No 4 on the map) to the next road junction is about 4 kilometers.
(On your right on the way up you will see a cog-wheel railway.)
At the top of the road you reach a wide junction. Turn right, and cross the
ra
the cog-wheel railway. [Svábhegy, No 3 on the map]. Go
straight uphill. The name of this road is Eötvös út. After about 1 km
the road divides to circumvent a water tower in the middle of the road.
Continue going and after a few
hundred meters you will see the signs of two hotels: Hotel Olympia, and
Hotel Agro. After 200-300 meters on your left you will see the Normafa
Hotel.
[Normafa, No 2 on the map].
Immediately after the hotel turn left into
Konkoly Thege út. Follow this road for about 2 kilometers. You will cross
the r
narrow gauge mountain railway, and then on your right is a green-fenced
camp.
that the road slopes downwards with electronically protected walls on your
righ
boundary wall of the KFKI campus. Drive parallel to the wall for about 500 m
to reach the main gate of the campus. Drive in.
Formalities take only a few minutes.
You will need to show your passport to obtain an entrance permit. As the
guards do not speak
English, you should refer to the name of your host. Ask for a
map of the campus (in hungarian: térkép).
