On folio 434v of this Bible, made in Paris about 1285, initials in the Epistles of St Paul can be seen. The first, for the letter to Philemon, simply depicts St Paul seated with his book and sword, but the second, for the letter to the Hebrews, shows St Paul speaking to a Hebrew, identifiable by his medieval Jewish hat.
