Sacramentary of Saint-Étienne

This miniature showing the Pentecost is from the Sacramentary of Saint-Étienne (folio 87) executed in Limoges for the Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Toulouse. (The Sacramentary is a book containing the prayers that the priest recited at Mass.) The style of the miniature was probably inspired by the works made by the famous workshop of enamellers in Limoges during the twelfth century.
