Invitation
Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to participate in this school that aims to summarize recent developments in high energy heavy ion physics, with particular attention to the new run-2 data emerging from the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) accelerator. The RHIC accelerator has been dedicated to collide intersecting beams of heavy ions in the search for a new state of matter called quark gluon plasma.
The aims of the school are 1) deepening the collaboration between experimental and theoretical physicists who are interested in finding QGP and perhaps other new states of hot and dense hadronic matter and 2) preparing for an increased Hungarian participation in the PHENIX experiment of the RHIC accelerator at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island, USA, as KFKI RMKI, ELTE and Debrecen University are becoming institutional members of PHENIX at the end of 2002.
Location of the school will be the Auditorium of the Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA KFKI RMKI), Building III, 2nd floor,Konkoly-Thege M. u. 29-33, Budapest XII, Hungary.
Participation fee of HUF 6000 will be charged to the participants. Expenses of the invitation of speakers to the School will be covered by support of OTKA and other grants. Participants are expected to solve their housing problems and to cover their lunch expenses at the KFKI Cafeterias.
Students are particularly encouraged to attend the school (and their fee will be waved).
Registration is requested by sending an e-mail to the organizer.
Participants are encouraged to present their recent results in brief contributed talks (10 minutes, 5 transparencies). Please e-mail us your name and institute, (and the title of your contribution, if any).

A preliminary list of lecturers can be found here.
Have a look at the preliminary programme and at the preliminary list of participants.

Looking forward to a stimulating and fruitful meeting,

T. Csörgö
